Welcome to the Computational and Analytical Molecular Evolution Lab at The Institute Formerly Known as CARB.
Opportunities
Opportunities at CARB. When contacting us for information on open positions, please include your resume and indicate the position you are seeking:
- Undergraduate students are eligible for summer support through CARB's summer intern program. This program provides a modest wage for summer research and is intended to support local students who desire research experience.
- Graduate studentships. We have funding for a graduate position in bioinformatics and evolutionary analysis. Prospective graduate students must be accepted into BEES, the Behavior, Ecology, Evolution & Systematics program at the University of Maryland, College Park. The admissions deadline is January 1. Interested students should check out the BEES web site, and then contact Arlin.
- Research Associates (post-doctoral). Prospective post-docs are encouraged to apply for any of a variety of external post-doc fellowships (to keep track of new fellowships, check GrantsNet regularly). We are especially eager to attract individuals who can build on our ground-breaking work on the role of mutation in evolution. One possible source of support is a prestigious NRC Research Associateship.
- Anyone with an ongoing academic position (as a graduate student, post-doctoral fellow, research scientist, or faculty member) may come to CARB as a visiting scientist. Contact me for details.
Fellowships. We have a separate listing of fellowships for post-docs and graduate students in areas of mathematical and computational biology.
